The VPRF Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we have awarded our 2025 research grants!

Congratulations to:

  • Dr. Lara Maxwell, Professor of Pharmacology, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, Oklahoma State University, received $14,999 for a study "Pharmacokinetics and dose proportionality after oral administration of pregabalin to rabbits” with her co-investigator Anna Claire McMullen.

  • Dr. Naomi Crabtree, Large Animal Emergency & Critical Care Clinical Assistant Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia, and Dr. Amy Brandon, Large Animal Clinical Assistant Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, received $30,000 for a study "Evaluation of three subcutaneous metoclopramide dosing strategies in healthy adult horses: Pharmacokinetics and comparison with computer-modeled predictions; impact on gastrointestinal motility; and identification of adverse drug reactions.”

In total, 28 grant proposals were submitted in 2025, all of which were carefully evaluated by the Scientific Review Committee. A huge thank you to each of our committee members for their time and dedication to this process.

We look forward to the outcomes of these research studies and their impact on the future of veterinary medicine.
