In Remembrance: Dr. Joe Gloyd

With great sadness and heavy hearts, the VPRF Board of Directors reports that one of our founding members, Dr. Joe Gloyd, passed away on December 7th, 2024.

During his remarkable 17 years as a board member, Joe was an active volunteer in supporting the VPRF’s activities related to funding veterinary research. He and his family were generous donors to the Foundation, and a week at their Wyoming cabin was always a top item during our silent auction fundraiser at the AAVPT Biennial Symposium.

Joe’s involvement with VPRF was just one of many highlights during his lifetime in veterinary medicine, which also included working in private practice, with the American Veterinary Medical Association in the Scientific Activities and Governmental Divisions, and co-founding Elevate DVM, Inc. with his beloved wife, Kathy. He also served on several AAVPT committees and as the Secretary/Treasurer from 2006 to 2008. During his term, his efforts in growing the membership resulted in one of the largest membership increases since the 1970s.

We will greatly miss Joe as a board member, colleague, and friend, and are extremely thankful for his contributions throughout the years. You can read more about Joe’s life and many achievements in his obituary.
